P.B.J. Piercing Aftercare Guide

Female Exotic Piercing Aftercare

You have just received an exotic piercing using the best implantation steel jewellery available. The aftercare for these piercings is very simple due to the nature of this tissue and the location. Mucous tissue heals quite quickly due to the enhanced blood flow in this tissue. How ever care should be taken not to irritate this sensitive tissue with heavy soaps that contain dyes, scenting, moisturizers or deodorants. Use a gentle liquid anti-bacterial soap such as Soft Soap brand liquid anti-bacterial soap or Spectro-Gel 609 during normal showers and bathing and the cleaning of the piercing should be the last area cleaned before exiting a bath or shower.

For Horizontal hood, Vertical hood, Inner labia and Clitoral piercings.

(Healing time 6 to 8 weeks)

Apply a pea sized amount of the liquid anti-bacterial soap or Spectro Gel* to your hand and add to this a small amount of water, lather up the soap and apply it to the jewellery. Work the soap into the piercing gently as you rotate the jewellery. Using clear running water from the shower head irrigate the piercing while rotating the jewellery to flush all the soap out of the piercing. Exit the shower and dry this area using clean facial tissue. towels can retain bacteria and may pose a risk during the initial stages of healing ( the first few days up to 72 hours ). * Spectro-Gel 609 does not lather and is not a soap but a mild cleanser recommended by dermatologists

Once dry, nothing else should be used on the piercing, unlike navel piercings and other piercings in normal tissue, mucous tissue doesn't generally need a healing agent or anti-septic to assist in the healing process. In some cases use of such products will trigger a swelling to occur which is very painful and quite uncomfortable.

If inflammation occurs, irrigate the piercing with lots of running water and rotate the jewellery if possible to allow the water to rinse the irritant away, irritation may last as short as 5 minutes to 15 minutes or longer in some cases, irrigation with water will ease the burning and the inflammation will ease. Cleaning of any piercing should be done as a daily routine when in the shower or bath as routine maintenance.

As with any exotic piercings, care during sexual activity should be exercised during initial contact, use of condoms and avoidance of oral contact is recommended until the piercing is fully healed.

For Outer Labia piercings.
