Vertical Clitoral Piercing

Vertical Clitoral piercing is not for the faint of heart, nor are many women anatomically suited for this piercing. Here the clitoris has been pierced on the center line with a micro or mini barbell. This piercing will cause the clitoris to enhance or become larger during the healing period.

The ideal jewellery of choice is the micro or mini barbell however the clitoris can be done with a small captive bead ring. this piercing will enhance the sensation during activity for the wearer.

The average healing time is 4 ~ 6 weeks to obtain a light heal and like any other exotic piercing can take a full year to become seasoned at which time the jewellery can be removed for extended periods of time or the jewellery can be changed for another jewellery style. This is not a piercing that should be attempted by a *novice piercer (* anyone with less than 5 years of hands on experience performing professional piercing services).

Body Piercing

Body piercing and it's roots go back centuries to various countries and civilizations, some for religious reasons and some for cultural rights of passage. Ultimately the history can vary from one person to the next depending on who you ask. Ultimately the modern piercing movement is based on self expression and piercing doesn't define the person or their position in today's society. From the early sailors and the mythical sea fairing beliefs, right up to today's modern primitives body piercing has evolved by leaps and bounds.

There are some who would say, "body piercing isn't regulated", they are dreadfully wrong. Body piercing is regulated, there just isn't the heavy regulations one would expect with something as invasive as body piercing. Each village, town or city has it's own set of local regulations governing how these facilities conduct business. Health inspections are mandatory prior to a facility opening for business to the general public. However not everyone plays by the simple rules that are set down. Hackers, these wannabe be individuals who suddenly think, "gee I want to do body piercing" will set up shop. Usually in their home basements, unlicensed and uninspected because they want to fly under the radar of licensing authorities and health inspectors. What does this mean for you? Well if you are smart enough, you avoid these clowns at all cost, they have there eye on the kids. The minors, who don't have the age required by local regulations to get a piercing in a licensed and inspected facility generally fall prey to these hackers. Here at Common Sense Piercing we will look further into these issues and give you the latest up to date information available.

The Smoking Gun The Smoking Gun Piercing guns have been the rage for many years prior to the advent of the modern body piercing movement, even then they were looked upon with an amount of disgust by the medical profession. One of the early versions of a professional "physician grade" autoclave safe piercing gun is depicted below. At the least this gun was operated by hand pressure and was used by a physician to insert metal studs into ear lobes.

The Great Debates The Great Debates From aftercare to jewellery preference, there will never be a time when two piercers will agree on absolutely everything. Is a piercer wrong or unprofessional because s/he prefers to use bent barbells instead of rings for navel piercings? Recommends Listerine instead of Oral-B? Uses 14 gauge barbells for tongue piercings?

I want to get a Piercing I want to get a Piercing! Shop around, visit the shops you have interest in and talk to the piercers, look at the studios ask some smart questions. Don't price shop, use your head, we are talking about your body and putting a hole in it somewhere. Do your research on the piercing you want then ask the piercer about the piercing and the aftercare for the piercing. Use common sense and gut instinct.

It's Infected, now what? It's infected now what? Professional piercers know much more about body piercing than the average person, so this in mind, you have to pick a course of action. Start by seeing your piercer as soon as possible. Infections are easy to treat so long as they are handled quickly and properly..

Common Sense Aftercare Aftercare is a simple procedure in the care of any body piercing from simple ear piercings to the extreme piercings, but you have to remember some common points with all aftercare instructions. Many clients quickly forget half of what they are told in the studio after getting a piercing, partly due to the excitement of the piercing and partly from the rush of having just got what they wanted for a while.

It's an Art form, It's what we do.Our body piercer is among some of the most experienced piercers in British Columbia. Our senior piercer is from the old school of piercing and studied various piercing methods at length as well as many variations offered by other senior piercers in the industry. Instrument use, technique, sterilization methods and metals used for the process of piercing were looked at in great detail.
