Piercer Biographies

It's an Art form, it's a thing we do.

Our body piercer is among some of the most experienced piercers in British Columbia. Our senior piercer is from the old school of piercing and studied various piercing methods at length as well as many variations offered by other senior piercers in the industry. Instrument use, technique, sterilization methods and metals used for the process of piercing were looked at in great detail. Our selection of materials are from only the highest quality approved and available for use in body piercing. Of great interest were variations in aftercare from studio to studio - this has always amazed us. We have never taken one side or another until we researched the suggested aftercare through to see the end result. This thoughtfulness has been included in our training of new piercers to the industry.

John - Senior Piercer and Instructor

From the first day he opened his piercing studio in 1992, John knew that his approach to body piercing would ensure business success. Despite the enforcement of "special" regulations by the property manager (no use of the word "piercing" on signs, blinds on the windows closed 24 hours a day), word of mouth quickly spread, and John was as busy as he wanted to be.

John left body piercing to try the corporate route once more - steady income, health benefits, a handsome retirement package - but after 36 months, he realized that he couldn't spend the next 20 years making someone else’s ideas succeed.

Even during that "corporate" period, John could not stay completely away from body piercing. He began offering customized piercing seminars to existing personal services establishments that only wanted to learn specific piercings. It was the success of these seminars that finally convinced John once and for all that body piercing was not a fad, and that a true professional piercer could make a successful career out of it. Having trained many new piercers working through out B.C., Alberta and as far east as St. John's N.L., John's students have all derived enjoyment and gain from learning the craft with a common sense approach to provision and aftercare.

John has always believed that body piercing should be an experience, rather than just a procedure that one is rushed through, and helping the client to make an informed decision is the number one challenge. Whether you are a potential client, or a concerned parent or medical professional, John will gladly take you into his studio and answer your questions. This is one reason why you are encouraged to make an appointment - once you are in John’s studio, regardless of the number of people waiting, you will not be pushed or rushed.

Guests are always welcome into the studio with the client during the piercing, adding a sense of comfort to the experience. Be it a first time body piercing or something a bit more advanced, knowing you are in the hands of a seasoned professional body piercer who's knowledge and skill are clearly evident just makes the whole experience and enjoyable one.

John has been conducting professional body piercing services for the last 15 years, in duly licensed and inspected facilities in Abbotsford, B.C., Victoria, B.C. and now in Prince George, B.C. and trained other professional piercers working in B.C. cities such as Penticton, Maple Ridge, Port Coquitlam, Vancouver, Surrey and Victoria. He believes that if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem, with that in mind he has always made himself available to the local licensing authorities and health inspectors for consultation on regulations and local enforcement issues. Professional body piercers must act in a professional manner, because they represent a majority of other professionals in the field, who respect and enjoy there chosen profession and with that should make themselves available to ensure the profession is given the respect and support in deserves. Happy clients make for happy piercings.

The Smoking Gun The Smoking Gun Piercing guns have been the rage for many years prior to the advent of the modern body piercing movement, even then they were looked upon with an amount of disgust by the medical profession. One of the early versions of a professional "physician grade" autoclave safe piercing gun is depicted below. At the least this gun was operated by hand pressure and was used by a physician to insert metal studs into ear lobes.

The Great Debates The Great Debates From aftercare to jewellery preference, there will never be a time when two piercers will agree on absolutely everything. Is a piercer wrong or unprofessional because s/he prefers to use bent barbells instead of rings for navel piercings? Recommends Listerine instead of Oral-B? Uses 14 gauge barbells for tongue piercings?

I want to get a Piercing I want to get a Piercing! Shop around, visit the shops you have interest in and talk to the piercers, look at the studios ask some smart questions. Don't price shop, use your head, we are talking about your body and putting a hole in it somewhere. Do your research on the piercing you want then ask the piercer about the piercing and the aftercare for the piercing. Use common sense and gut instinct.

It's Infected, now what? It's infected now what? Professional piercers know much more about body piercing than the average person, so this in mind, you have to pick a course of action. Start by seeing your piercer as soon as possible. Infections are easy to treat so long as they are handled quickly and properly..

Common Sense Aftercare Aftercare is a simple procedure in the care of any body piercing from simple ear piercings to the extreme piercings, but you have to remember some common points with all aftercare instructions. Many clients quickly forget half of what they are told in the studio after getting a piercing, partly due to the excitement of the piercing and partly from the rush of having just got what they wanted for a while.
